hi @ton I saw your call for a sort of "small AI barcamp/hackathon", I'm certainly interested!
I do regular checkins with a friend about "AI for NGO fundraising", brainstormed with @ademoor about a facilitation tool for policy debates, and use chatgpt as "junior/coach co-worker" (interesting mix) to learn Ruby on Rails programming 🙂
Would be great to explore how you can "use/own" a LLM that is trained and tailored to your own needs and ethics!

I never thought about it like that: current phishing emails are usually very obvious, because a scammer wants to limit the replies to only include the most promising leads. The subsequent exchange of messages is labour-intensive. But Large Language Models make it possible to scale this, even using available information about a victim.

The European Commission is working on the Next Generation Internet, based on design values such as human rights, inclusion, free/libre/open, and federation. @APC, one of my favourite organisations in internet governance, in a consortium with NLnet, is looking for a communications person.
Europe-based, 6-month initially, approx. 5 days/month, starting mid-May, with a short deadline to apply (end of this week).

@jai I certainly agree there is room for multiple instances, and thanks @david_megginson @robert for adding more info on mstdn.ca (and its CIRA partnership).
In The Netherlands (and EU) we have some interesting attempts to root Fediverse instances in existing public institutions (provincial or national governments, public broadcasting, universities).
The big challenge is moving from "someone's project" to "sustainable public service"…
