Is it possible to request a new password, when you don't have access to the e-mail address you used to sign up with on mastodon.social, in 2017?

    Maybe @rolfkleef or @BjornW can ?

@wendyhk @BjornW I think your only hope is to contact the staff@mastodon.social — but it should be hard πŸ™‚ They'll have to somehow verify in a different way that the person on the new email address is really the person who owned the registered address in the past. Otherwise they're open to having accounts hijacked by social engineering…

    Online burger versus online consument.

Fijn dat er zoveel publieke instituten waren om te kijkenhoe we van de#fediverse een democratische publieke ruimte kunnen maken!

    Dank @waag en @publicspaces

  • @ruby @awsamuel @proactivebusybody @rolf It really feels like "we're putting the band back together"!

NetSquared should become NetCubed as response to web3 πŸ˜‰

@rolf I started reading this super interesting post and then I had the moment of…. HEY!! I know him!!!

N00b question: What is the secret to posting such a long thing on Mastodon? Mine caps at 500 characters. Is the limit different on different servers or am I missing some secret?

@awsamuel I left a reply via my website, not sure of that makes its way into the fediverse πŸ™‚

if not, I can post it here too! I'm also still discovering how it really works…

  • @notjustbikes Are you joining the "Mastodonderdag" at De Waag on Dec 1st? mastodon.social/@waag@waag.soc

I think Nebula should integrate PeerTube/ActivityPub for its creators, and make it seemless to subscribe via Mastodon etc.

Would be interesting to explore what it takes…

  • dear people: Is there a way in to keep and images together. I would like to have a subdir per page and in there a 'image' subdir containing only the images for that page

@taseroth Just to be sure, there is a vibrant community via antora.zulipchat.com/ where the core people are very responsive and helpful in either how it can be done, or why it doesn't fit the design concept πŸ™‚

I would write a page as `pages/topic-a.adoc` and put page-specific images under `images/topic-a/image1.png` etc.

Also because so far the Intellij Asciidoc/Antora plugin I use does a great job at updating (refactoring) sources and references when renaming things.

  • the trouble with -driven services is that it leads to bots feeding each other… and us.

  • @david_megginson I have an earlier sighting πŸ˜‰ mastodon.social/@EU_opendata@r –looking forward to see more here!

  • @rolfkleef Yes, that's my worry too. Gaping holes in conversation webs over time. Could there be a federated kind of archival infrastructure as well? Including permalinks that would remain constant even if servers hosting archived posts change?

@ademoor there is archive.org doing their best; and many conversations are ephemeral in nature — I know there is research trying to deduce ancient songs by detecting sound waves frozen in pottery and plaster.

But that only captures the songs of people working in those fields. And conversely: do I want every conversation online to be eternal rather than ephemeral?
